Gclfeds would like to invite you to a presentation about Life Insurance for Persons with Special Needs presented by Marilyn Ocker.
Marilyn is a benefits enrollment officer for American Income life insurance company.  AIL has been providing benefits for Labor Unions, Credit Unions and Associations for over 60 years.  AIL also sponsors the Child Safe kits for the Police and Fire fighters' labor unions, and they have opened up their negotiated supplemental benefits for parents with children, in an effort to keep working families with children, safe and protected.

Marilyn is a former educator who has recently joined the AIL team to help protect families.  She grew up in  the Texas City area, and now lives in North Houston with her husband and three boys.

After researching the underwriting position for AIL, concerning children with Down Syndrome, children who meet the following criteria, are able to qualify for life insurance:
1.  Child must be 8 years or older.  (The underwriting department believes that children who have reached this age have grown out of a lot of health issues by this time.)
2.  Must be in fairly good health. ( if they take medication, it is ok, but all that information will be placed on application and a determination will be made by the company)
3.  They must be able to hold down some sort of a job and have an income by the time they are an adult.

As far as any chronic medical issues, this would be no different than adults who apply for life insurance for our company.  Each case will be evaluated on it's own.

We offer different types of life insurance for adults and children.  I will explain the head start plan and show a video at the meeting but just so your group is aware we offer:

Whole life
Term life insurance in the form of:
Accidental death benefit
Income protection
Mortgage protection
Children's education

Childcare will be provided in the Flanders Bldg Room 411.

Dinner and drinks will be served from 6-630pm, presentation starts at 630pm.

Please RSVP by May 26th !!
